Committeemen Honored for 20 Years of Service At the 2nd performance of the Wild Bill Hickok Rodeo in 2006, Wild Bill Hickok Rodeo Committee members Sidney Hammond, Abilene, and Bruce Kogler, rural Abilene, were presented with a plaque holding their PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association) Gold Cards. Accompanying these awards was a letter of recognition from the PRCA acknowledging their 20 years as Wild Bill Hickok Rodeo Committeemen. - August 4, 2006 Sid Hammond & Bruce Kogler
The Wild Bill Hickok Rodeo was part of the inaugural year of the Kansas Lottery Championship Rodeo Series in 2006. Thirteen pro rodeos in the state, including the Wild Bill Hickok Rodeo, were part of a series sponsored by the Kansas Lottery. Cowboys who competed in participating rodeos, and who won the most money in each event were be awarded $1000 and a Montana Silversmith buckle. “The Kansas Lottery is proud to be associated with a sport that embodies our state’s western heritage of hard work, honesty and integrity,” said Lottery Executive Director Ed Van Petten. >> Read More
2006 Auction "The Wild Bill Hickok rodeo committee can throw up their hats and celebrate. This year's Belt Buckle Auction netted a total of $10,535--almost $2,000 more than last year's $8,575. A handmade quilt made by Beverly Willcoxon and embedded with the history of the Wild Bill Hickok Rodeo was the biggest seller--topping off the bidding at $2,400. Don Burns, whose picture is one of several pictures featured on the quilt, was the buyer. Read full article >>
